The market dates back to 1912 and the building is still quite original, with a few reconstructions of course. Right in the middle of the city you will find lots of everything to eat, see and remember at Bessarabka market.
The beautiful building of the first covered market in Kyiv is impressive and inviting. Before leaving, tourists or people going to see friends overseas, come here to buy the most traditional specialties like salo (pork lard), pickles and local spirits.
You also will find any fruit or vegetable during any season, caviar, fish, smoked foods, vegan cafe/kiosk and shop, a lot of flowers, coffee, sweets and bread. Not entering the market itself, you will find entrances to lots of places to have a snack or dinner: Eastern, wok, bakery, kebab, hot wine and a supermarket is also there in case you hadn’t found anything to your taste!
The market is situated in the heart of everything. Clubs, bars and restaurants are all nearby. Don’t buy too much so as not to carry heavy bags around with you.
