It’s not a secret that the Right bank of Dnipro river is more popular among tourists: all the historical landmarks, hip cafes and interesting places are there. But the Left bank is also worth visiting, especially its shore.
If you are ever somewhere near Hydropark metro station (popular recreational place among locals although not always safe), the first thing you have to see is Kachalka (check out the article) and then, if you go back across the Venetian bridge and walk along the beach for about twenty minutes, you will stumble upon quite an unusual place – Jungle Cat.
Despite the interior being a bit shabby and old, it feels very cozy inside. What makes it cozy is probably the fireplace right in the middle, and the lazy local cats. The menu is mostly Ukrainian traditional food – borshch, vareniki (lots of fillings!), deruny (potato pancakes), shashlyk. They also have a choice of homemade liquors.
I think it’s better to come here in low season when there are fewer people and noise around, but in summer they have an outdoor terrace, so it’s also worth dropping by for a cold beer on the beach and a great view on the right bank.
