Kanapa is definitely right if you want a classy and fancy evening out with a taste of genuine Ukraine with a modern touch. The venue is a result of accurate work with Ukrainian cuisine history books and the use of the up-to-date cooking techniques. The place was opened by a tandem of a famous restaurateur and a folk/rock singer, composer and Ukrainian culture promoter Oleg Skrypka. You can feel the highest social layer of local culture in every corner here: niche jazz and closed theater plays are on offer here.
The main idea behind the cuisine is to use local products and the ones rarely used nowadays to cook. Unusual, sometimes strange combinations and use of products in the dishes will show a lot of new things, for sure. Ukrainian truffles from the Carpathians, local young cheese, unexpected animal parts like thymus or lungs, popular black burgers and surprising desserts: the mini-version of the legendary Kyiv-cake is a must-try even for locals.
The terrace faces the woods and shows Andriivskiy descent from above, it will give off a strong feeling of Paris’ Montmartre in Kyiv. Art, music and slow food – those are the things to catch in Kanapa.
