The latest project by a famous Kyiv gastro-expert, based on the idea of locavore-oriented cuisine: all ingredients used in the dishes are Ukrainian – meat, dairy, vegetables and fruits, spices and alcohol. Klukva-Brukva’s menu can be called “Ukrainian modern haute-cuisine”: unexpected combinations and the cooking manner show well known products from a completely new side. These are no traditional dishes tourists and Ukrainians are used to: marmalades made of beetroot or pumpkin, sorrel espuma or Madeira jelly are a completely new approach. But, of course, I feel traditional folk notes every time I come here for dinner.
Besides eating in, I buy home-made confitures, marinades, local wines and other spirits here. The design is an eco-friendly loft with bricks, metal grills, wood, cosy grey and chock painted walls. An authentic local oven is regularly used to make fresh patties or thin pancakes (crepes or blintz) with different fillings.
A special for the Kyiv visitors is an expert guided gastro-tour all around the city with sampling the most interesting dishes and seeing the most outstanding gastro-places. The place is easily found and reached by metro and has Kreschatik right within 5 mins walking distance.
