This is one of the biggest stadiums in Europe, the main and multipurpose country’s sports venue, where the final game of the 2012 European Football Cup was held. You can come here to watch games or concerts performed by big bands, be a part of huge flash-mobs or shop at fairs focused on healthy eating.

Initially, the place was built almost 100 years ago, it was named the Red Stadium after Lev Trotsky. It was later rebuilt and renamed as the Republican Stadium. Fast forward a couple of years, when it survived the Second World War with almost no damage. In 1966 it was rebuilt again and thus became the biggest in all of Europe. It was reconstructed twice more, once for the 1980 Olympics, and again in 2008 – for the European Football Cup.

I strongly recommend this place if you have a habit of running in a new place you’re visiting. Plan your route in such a way that the middle of it will be the stadium. The outside area is open for everybody, so you can run a couple of km in peace and quiet on a good (but springy) surface. Don’t miss a self made good morning!
