Museum of Natural History – Mammoths and dinosaurs

If you are somewhere in the city center between Khreschatik street and Golden Gates, the weather is bad and you don’t feel like going to the pub yet, there is a great way to pass the time. At the Museum of natural history! I’ve been here many times but there is still so much to see.

The museum is old and there have hardly been any renovations since the Soviet 1960s. You will not see state-of-art facilities, interactives, videos, or modern design, but still the exhibition is quite impressive and worth visiting. There are four floors dedicated to zoology, paleontology, geology and botany. My favourite parts are zoology and paleontology. They have stuffed animals of all kinds, skeletons of mammoths and dinosaurs, most of which were found on the territory of Ukraine.

You can skip everything else, but you cannot miss the dioramas, some of which are true masterpieces. Also check out my favourite sunfish on the zoology floor.
