Ukrainian people often like to blame things on Ukrainian service. But, actually, it’s much better than it seems to be if you know what you are comparing it with. For example – you can easily find regular big supermarkets open 24/7 here. This means that you can buy whatever you want – meat, fish, sweets, dairy, fruits and vegetables, alcohol (ok, with this there are some restrictions, recently solved through the court case by civil activists, yeah, we fight for our right to buy alcohol whenever we want), cigarettes around the clock! Even ready-to-eat food, this category normally goes with a big discount after 20:00, like -40%. Prices don’t vary in the night, if you feel more comfortable with night shopping – you are welcome.
My favorite supermarket (also because it’s the closest to my place) is Silpo in Gulliver Center. It’s located on the -1 underground floor, so it’s not so obvious when you enter the shopping center, you should take the escalator in front of the main entrance to go downstairs. And here you are – you can buy all you need – any time here. It can help you when you think that it’s already too late to buy any specialties from Kyiv before your flight – you can always find the most popular food items here. There’s a big choice and acceptable prices (much lower than in Duty Free) – I like it, and I hope it will help you satisfy your hunger! Another interesting option inside – a big multi-cuisine food-court.
The nearest Metro is Palats Sportu.
