Soup is great. I think it is the best meal you can imagine. It is healthy, it’s light and hearty and sometimes soup is completely enough to fill you up.
But you don’t usually think of soup as a fast food. It has to be poured in a bowl and it’s not very convenient to walk around with a bowl. Guys from Supkultura invented a great way to turn soup into a fast food – soup in a cup. The best thing about the cup is that you can eat it too as it is made of bread! Simple as it is, I think it’s a great idea.
There are three soup spots, my favourite is in a quite remarkable Soviet-style building of Kyiv Proekt close to Teatralna metro station. You can choose from several cream-soups – lentil, cheese, mushroom, and soup of the day. What you get is a huge edible cup filled with hot soup. You can also ask for a paper cup, which makes the soup even cheaper.
Be prepared to not be able to finish the whole cup as it is so big, I usually can’t. You can also have a cup of masala, tea, coffee or lemonade. All in all, a great way to have a cheap hearty unexpected snack.
