This place has a history dating back to the 17th century when there was a church here named after Volodymyr. The market survived the Holodomor of the 30s in the XX century and the World War 1941-45, and was rebuilt and a bit repositioned in the 70s during Soviet time.
For us, Kyiv people, this is now the second most expensive market with the best food. Farmer dairy, meat, pickles, breads, seasonal vegetables, dried fruits and nuts, flowers, home smoked foods – all ready to eat right here right now. Notice, that when trying all of that in little portions, you can easily fill your stomach for a while.
Apart from food, one can find some clothes, shoes, stuff for your home or fix clothes in atelier or haberdashery.
It’s a colorful place with good vibes and tons of people, but be aware of sneaky gypsies – keep your wallet close to your heart!
And, a hint: everything sold away from the market territory, of the same quality, is much cheaper! 🙂
