They say Amélia is Nicolau’s girlfriend. I’ve never been to Nicolau, the other café, but ever since I first stepped into Amélia and tasted her specialities, I’ve felt in love with her.
What can I say? Her brunch is perfection, and available any hour of the day. A huge bowl of Greek yogurt, cereals and lots of fruits, or different range of pancakes, if you’re in the mood. The eggs, the way you want. A marvelous selection of juices, coffees and hot chocolate. At the end, guilty pleasure.
Alternatively, if you’re there for lunch, or afternoon tea, they have delicious bowls and an obscene selection of delicious cakes.
And the location, oh those walls. Amélia’s atmosphere is food for eyes and mind. Extremely well decorated, from the entrance to the main hall, and on the back, to the yard. Tthe only bad thing about Amélia the fact that you can’t stay there forever.
what takes me to another note. Weekends are busy. Anytime before 10 am or after 3 pm are ok, but between those hours you may probably have a 30-minute waiting list. But it’s worth the wait.
Anyway, in case you have to wait, there is an app where they tell you when your table is available, so you can wander around Campo de Ourique ‘s neighborhood while you wait.
