Galeria Zé dos Bois. This is one of those ever-bubbling places of artistic expression, a spot that builds and accentuates Lisbon’s cultural emergence and creativity.
As a music lover, this place never ceases to make me feel uninformed, ignorant even! And what a privilege that is! To have a place that is able to enlighten new and experimental, old and traditional and an always different array of music genres and artists, is a joy.
It’s a dream during those endless summer days when the roof terrace is open, the hot sun is shining and great music fills the air and the streets. That’s when I love Lisbon.
But this is for the love of art, not only music. Beyond fabulous music, this gallery successfully curates and hosts some of the most interesting exhibitions in Lisbon. Currently displayed is Liz Craft’s exhibition “QUERELA” (see times in website), an ironic whilst highly critical challenge to artistic conventions & to cultural, sexual and moral expectations that contemporary society imposes. Visual food for thought, yum!!
Zé dos Bois Gallery wins over my heart with all the participatory activities that they have developed. Through workshops, debates and ateliers, one can shift from spectator and observer to a creator, learning and practicing the art of art. Often I think that I’m not artistically gifted, and that might be true, but expression is vital and this spot has helped me in that.
A plus: you’ll meet great people in a relaxed & open environment.
Have fun and enjoy!
