I love this place. It is situated in what was once a shabby street and is now next to the thriving center of Lisbon’s nightlife, close to Cais do Sodré and next to the lower end of the Bica elevator. As you might have guessed, it’s a taco bar. (Note to Americans: there are no taco bars, Taco Bells or lookalikes in Portugal. So having a real one in Lisbon is a big thing!)
This is not some kind of Mexican-concept restaurant. It is the real deal and actually run by Mexicans, and it shows. The place is very simple, almost a “hole in the wall”. No reservations. No cutlery. Just tacos and kickass margaritas. The decoration is great, full of Mexican art and artefacts. The tacos and other food (there are some other Mexican dishes) are great. Everything is shareable, so it makes for an informal dining experience. If you like spicy you have come to the right place, my mouth is still recovering.
I do not remember what I ate, I just remember that it was great, spicy and involved a lot of margaritas and Mexican beers. Reasons enough for me to come back and for you to pay a visit!
Adios!
