When I hear Sisi, I can’t help but think of Empress Elisabeth of Austria. Random and I guess unimportant fact, but let me tell you, this bistro-like restaurant will make a modern-day princess frown. Jokes aside, I had my eyes on Sisi for quite a while, due to its interior, carefully designed by TRIIIJE architects that leave no detail to chance. Their resumé is filled with a line of perfectly redone places that are now high-end restaurants (Pen Klub), cafés (Lolita at Eipprova and Lili Novy garden) and even museums (Bankarium) in Ljubljana, charmingly still honoring the old buildings these contents inhabit. I mean – Sisi can show off her Sicoe paintings like no gallery can.
Enough about the architecture. Let’s talk food and drinks. MY MY MY. Or just MMM because you won’t be able to say a word while stuffing your mouth with Sisi. That pun was intentional. Even I forgot about table manners and god knows my gran did all she could to raise me as a lady. I call Sisi making it into Michelin Red Guide sooner rather than later, mark my words. You can choose between vegan, vegetarian, fishy, meaty and more dishes since July (for foreigners, I really advise getting some Slovenian žlikrofi) and they offer daily lunches since August 2021. One last thing: Sisi’s unprecedented love for pups. Who else offers a cocktail named after a dog? So don’t forget to order a taste of Pablo while sitting in Sisi.
