If a city makes a great impression on me, I like to take a small piece of it back home so I will have a constant memory and motivation to visit it again. The problem is that I’m not the biggest fan of dust-collecting useless kitsch. I prefer something with a story that captures the local way of life and that I can actually use, preferably on a daily basis.
Trgovina Ika, a little shop next to the Central market, specializes in selling products from many Slovenian designers. Here you can find Slovenian hits from Kickstarter (ONDU wooden pinhole camera, Musguard bike fender, LL chair etc.), enamelware coffee pot – džezva (so retro and yugo-nostalgic!), coffee mugs with portraits of Ivan Cankar, Primož Trubar, Jovanka Broz, bath towels and notebooks with motifs inspired by the architect Ivan Vurnik (remember the colourful building on Miklošičeva street? now you can take it back home.) and so much more.
