I see Prule, even though I have never lived there, as probably one of the most special parts of the city. Fairly old, one of the oldest, but almost completely noncommercial. Positioned on the sunny side of the Ljubljana Castle Hill, in the centre of Ljubljana, it is quite unbelievable how pristine it still looks.

Prule has the visible formation of a small village, with a small plaza in the middle of old, not too high houses and it lies along the embankment of Ljubljanica River. There is also a wine shop with wines from wine cellar Vinska klet Brataševec – Trošt, originally from the Vipava valley in south Slovenia.

This is not only a shop where you can buy cheap good wines, it’s also a place where you can try wines you are interested in and talk with people stopping by. And you would be surprised by how many people actually do stop there, say hello and drink a glass of wine. You get the feeling you’re in a proper wine cellar in a small village. The best is to bring your own bottle/container for the wine.
