About a year ago I realised my favourite meal of the day was brunch. As much for the food choice itself as for the fact that it’s a treat to have time for it! While on a bit of a mission to find a favourite brunch spot I found the lovely Counter Café over in Hackney Wick which if you’re not spending the day in East London can be a bit of a mission to get over to… and also found Caravan, perfectly sat on the edge of Granary Square you might need to be prepared to queue for a short while to get a table.
This restaurant gets very busy but once inside you’ll find yourself sat in the very tastefully decorated cavernous old granary building. You can watch the chefs busy themselves in the open kitchen whilst you decide what to choose from the menu. Drinks wise they serve breakfast Bellini’s as well as top quality coffee made from beans they roast to perfection on site. The brunch is made from the finest quality produce – wild boar sausages, light sour dough bread, delicious chorizo. Choose from a variety of different toasts to their version of a full English and a couple of sweeter dishes in between. It’s easy to savour every last bite here and every time I’ve visited the food has been cooked to perfection. It’s a great way to start the day if you’re traveling to somewhere from either Kings cross or St Pancras stations too.
