Making Books in Bow

Ramona from London

Hello! I'm a born New Yorker, adopted Londoner, and occasional Berliner. I've been in London on and off since 1995, and every time I move back to the city, it has changed yet again.  Neighbourhoods transform, green spaces and cycling become more available, and entrepreneurs set up businesses that improve and diversify the food and coffee scene.  It's always vibrant and always changing.  My work in...
"A haven for book lovers, the London Centre for Book Arts isn't only a shop. It's a studio & maker space, fostering a community devoted to artisanal printmaking."

The London Centre for Book Arts is heaven for anyone who cares about the art of creating and building beautiful books.  It is a combination of shop, studio, and shared maker space, and also holds workshops and exhibitions around printing techniques.

This is more than a shop: it's a community of supportive makers, artists, and publishers who fight to keep the artisanal, unique and special books and paper materials being produced.  The shop has a great variety of books on publishing but also creative paper products, cards, notebooks, and more.

The maker space at the back is available for modest membership fees, and the workshops are open to all.  On a recent visit, there was an exhibition about a ground-breaking publishing house and an example of the machines they used.  The staff are extremely friendly and on hand to answer any questions from the most basic to the most technical.

Paradise Soho

Sri Lankan small plates

A must try for me at Paradise Soho are the gigantic grilled ceylonese prawns - tender and smokey from the charring & the cashew curry along with a hopper.
