Paddington Basin – A walk by the canal

Paddington is not only known for the cuddly bear cartoon but is also one of the busiest railway terminals in London. That is why I found it is surprising that a quiet oasis awaits only a few metres away from the station along the Paddington Basin. I find the walk along this small canal path to be tranquil compared to the hustle and bustle of the city traffic. Also, for those industrial designer enthusiasts like myself, there is a gorgeous set of bridges on the canal, my favourite¬†of which being Heatherwick’s Rolling Bridge that curls up to allow boats through.

During the summer months, I like to make my way over to the Sheldon Square Amphitheatre to relax in the sun and read a book on the grassy terrace. There are nearby restaurants to enjoy a meal and drinks as well as screened sporting events on the terrace to catch the latest rugby game. I have frequently gone over to Massis Lebanese Grill & Bar to fulfill my Tabbouleh craving but more often than not, I just take in the tranquil atmosphere.
