Fountain at Grand Park Los Angeles – Walk on water!

relaxing
Relaxing
"The "Fountain at Grand Park" in LA stands out for its splash pad or 'membrane pool'. Whatever you call it, it makes you look like you're walking on water."

COVID-19 NOTE: Due to the virus, Los Angeles is in lockdown. Grand Park is still open to walk around - as long as you maintain 6' distancing - but  the playground and restrooms are closed until further notice.

Located between the Music Center and City Hall, Grand Park is a great place to hang out in downtown Los Angeles! You can catch some rays, get a coffee from the cafe, and relax in their distinctive 'Pepto Bismol pink' lawn chairs. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays (11:00-14:00) you can grab a quick lunch from that day's selection of food trucks.

Or you can walk on water!  Well, okay, LOOK like you're walking on water...

Which brings me to the part of Grand Park that is my personal favorite - the Arthur J. Will Memorial Fountain. In addition to the more traditional 'two tiers of water sprays going into a big round pool', it features a fun-filled water-covered flat 'splash pad' located directly in front of the fountain. The website says it's a 'membrane pool' but whatever you call it, it's a great way to cool off your feet. Or leave your shoes on - it's less than an inch deep!

And you can look like you're walking on water.

I'm not the only one who finds it irresistible. This area also features interactive jets of water to play in and it attracts both kids and adults alike.

And you can look like you're walking on water! (Did I say that already?)
