Petersen Automotive Museum Los Angeles – Cars, cars, cars!

The "Petersen Automotive Museum" in LA has 25 rotating exhibitions with more than 150 vehicles on display at any time. Check out their monthly events!

COVID-19 UPDATE: ALL MUSEUMS ARE CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

Love cars or motorcycles?  Then the Petersen Automotive Museum is worth a visit! It features 25 rotating exhibitions with more than 150 vehicles on display at any time and, happily, all special exhibits are included in the admission price.

Fan of racing? 'Legends of Los Angeles, Southern California race cars and their builders' is on until 11/19.

Love futuristic vehicles? 'Hollywood Dream Machines, vehicles of science fiction and fantasy' is open until 3/20.

If you're *really* a car buff, take a 75 or 120 minute docent-guided Vault Tour, costing an additional $25 & $30 respectively. (Tours must be reserved in advance on the website.) These 'behind the scenes' tours let you view the collection's most unique cars and motorcycles, some of which have rarely been seen by the public. The Vault recently underwent an extensive renovation and has now more than doubled in size. It's the largest guided automotive tour in the United States.

Parking is $16 after 08:00 on M-F and all day weekends and the street parking nearby is restricted.

Once a month (usually the last Sunday of the month) they have a breakfast cruise-in. Check the details on the Facebook page under 'Events'. Coffee, Noah's bagels & cream cheese, & even parking is FREE! (Admission is extra.) People bring all kinds of cars to share (and show off). It's a great way to meet like-minded locals!

NOTE: The Petersen focuses on performance/racing cars and the Nethercutt Collection in Sylmar has primarily classic cars. Each museum is wonderful in its own way.
