I discovered this beautiful bookshop a few months ago when I was walking straight to the Santa Monica Pier. It’s located in Santa Monica Boulevard, which is a very central street in Downtown Santa Monica. I remember it caught my eyes because right at the entrance, there was a huge and beautiful wall with pictures of some great writers from past centuries: Mark Twain, Albert Camus, and T.S. Eliot. The pictures are black and white and it gave me the sensation of being drawings instead of pictures.
Anyways, I couldn’t resist the temptation of taking pictures of such an unusual wall.
The bookshop, which is huge, has a lot of interesting sections — for example, for designers, writers, Spanish, French and Italian speakers. I find it very rich in content and diverse. The prices are cheap in comparison with other bookshops that are not “local”. Another interesting detail is that people can go sell their books and CDs/DVDs. I’m not quite sure how the dealing process works but I find it nice, since chucking books to the trash makes me very sad.
They’re open every day of the week.
