Who could imagine that on a neighborhood street in LA, someone would do such a beautiful tribute to a very old soul — old, but not forgotten. I’m talking about a mural in Los Feliz that’s dedicated to Charles Bukowski.
It was from a picture that someone sent me months ago that I saw the mural for the first time. I remember asking my friend for the address but he wouldn’t remember. So I went on the internet and after quite some minutes and a lot of patience, I finally found it. So I went, and there it was. A beautiful mural with some of his most famous books. Actually, from what I have read on the internet, the walls belonged to a store that painted a much more beautiful wall, but when they closed it, they also erased the painting. So who dared paint the books and make the tribute from the beginning, I have no idea.
If any of you reading this article love Bukowski, pass by, take your picture, and let me know you went there!
For the ones that don’t know Bukowski: he was a German writer who spent most of his life in Los Angeles, and whose work is strongly influenced by the atmosphere of the city in which he lived. His work is amazing, and by favorite poem is “Bluebird”.
