There’s nothing like a good bowl of ramen. If you are looking for authentic, fresh ramen look no further because Daikokuya is the spot! Even if the weather in Los Angeles is warm nearly all year round, this hot soup still gets locals going. I was recently introduced to this place by a friend who’s been trying to get me to try ramen for years. I always thought, what’s the point if I can buy it for 99 cents at the grocery store? I was seriously mistaken. This isn’t the instant ramen from your college days!
Daikokuya is in the heart of Little Tokyo, in Downtown LA. The menu is limited, but with good reason. They really put their all into their ramen. They also serve beef, pork, and seafood bowls but I recommend sticking with spicy miso ramen and a glass of their raspberry sweet tea to wash it down.
If you do decide to eat here make sure you don’t come too hungry, as the wait is usually between 30 minutes to an hour. They only seat about 50 guests at a time, and they don’t use fancy buzzers so you can’t stray too far! If you snooze you loose. However, I can assure you that it’s totally worth the wait! I have since tried other ramen spots and they just don’t compare. The broth is so rich and yummy. You can try another place but you will regret it. Thousands of positive reviews don’t lie, and neither do I!
