Explore the rich history and nature of California in the Museum of Natural History. Free the first Tuesday of every month (along with La Brea Tar Pits). I love seeing the gemstone exhibit and dinosaur fossils. There’s even a special room where you can watch archaeologists and dig for bones.
Old and young, the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles has something for everyone to discover! Taxidermy at its finest. There’s a vast display of animals from regions all over the world. The most impressive being the African mammal and bird exhibits. Visitors catch a glimpse into the Jurassic period in the dinosaur room or witness millions of years of Earth at work in (my favorite) the gem room.
It’s a great place to go and pack a picnic. Outdoors, there are gardens and fountains. Perfect for bird-watching and splashing. There’s even a nest of trees where children can find insects and pretend to be a bird. It’s a wonderfully enchanting and exciting place.
$13 for adults. $10 for students, senior citizens, and youth 10-17. $5 for kids (age 3-12). Free on the first Tuesday of every month. Visit https://nhm.org/site for exhibits and calendar of events.
