Montrose is Main St. USA, a quaint town of mom and pop shops and restaurants lining twinkling light streets at night. Montrose is a shop small/shop local, dog friendly, family friendly, creative date night place. Here, there’s something for everyone.
The perfect day in Montrose begins with a facial at Silky Skin. The Owner Elsa is a Master Esthetician with a wealth of knowledge using natural treatments to make skin youthful and glow. She also throws in a face, neck, and shoulder massage.
After the facial/massage, I like to go shopping. My favorite shops are Once Upon a Time Bookstore (the oldest children’s bookstore in the nation), Veruca Salt (cute and cool women’s fashion + gift boutique), It Takes a Village (kids), and Bellies, Babies, and Bosoms (moms & babies). I always feel good shopping here because I’m supporting independent business and investing in my own community.
Lunchtime, I’m ready to eat. Montrose is full of restaurants with food options from around the world. Benitoite offers the most sophisticated culinary experience. Seasoning Alley has a great falafel dish. Star Cafe and Black Cow Cafe are Montrose classics. Paradis has the best ice cream, but FroYo Life has the healthier option. For nightlife, try Basin 141, The Wine Cave, and Thee Elbow Room.
Montrose is a nice place. Everyone is welcome. Dogs included! For a short getaway from the hustle and bustle of LA, come to Montrose. It’s 20 minutes from DTLA, 10 minutes from Pasadena, and nestled in north Glendale.
