There’s nothing quite like an open-air food market on a warm, sunny day in Madrid, and Cámara Agraria’s El Día de Mercado is one of the best. Madrileños flock to the Puerta del Ángel neighbourhood on the first Saturday of every month to enjoy fabulous food and drink showcased by some of the best local producers in the Community of Madrid. Treating yourself to a block of artisan cheese, a box of seasonal fruit or a delicious bottle of wine feels good here.
It is a joy to pick up a variety of items and head over to nearby Casa del Campo for a picnic, but I love to spend a couple of hours on-site talking with the vendors as they proudly and passionately tell me about their products. The energy is lively and fun. However, my favourite part of this market is that, for 5 euros, you receive 6 tickets which allow you to hop from stall to stall enjoying generous food and drink samples. You even get to keep your wine glass! Try a cool rosé or herbal vermouth while devouring the famous tortilla de patata and paella. Everything is so delicious, fresh, and made with the best ingredients this region has to offer.
Cámara Agraria’s El Día de Mercado is the perfect place to discover and enjoy local products and support all of the hardworking men and women in Madrid’s agricultural sector. With prices so reasonable for exceptional quality, I guarantee you will not leave empty-handed.
