One of my favorite weekend plans to do in Madrid is to meet up with some of my girlfriends in a cute café. There’s nothing better than spending a few hours chatting in good company while sipping away on a hot café con leche. Luckily, Madrid has endless amounts of cafes to try out!
One of my favorites is Olive Café. It’s a small local tucked away right in the heart of the neighborhood Conde Duque. It may be small, but that only adds to it’s charm and coziness. When you walk inside, you will be greeted by the delicious smell of their freshly baked pastries, which usually include croissants, breads, and cakes. You will also receive a huge smile by one the friendliest baristas that I have met here in Madrid (he’s the one who always wears a turtleneck!).
Olive is one of my “go-to’s” for if I want to grab a coffee or tea to catch up with a friend – it’s the perfect place to chat because of it’s intimate and relaxed environment. Don’t limit yourself to just coffee though – they also have a great breakfast selection. Their specialty is their crepes, but you can also opt for a traditional Spanish breakfast.
Personally, my favorite breakfast to order is the typical toast with tomato, a coffee and some freshly squeezed orange juice, but it’s also a great idea to split a few crepes between friends so that you can try a bit of everything!
