Would you believe a big city like Madrid would have a small chocolate shop like Kaicao? Kaicao is much more than just a chocolate shop. It's a full sensory experience in Lavapiés.
What I find special about Kaicao is its bean-to-bar experience. This factory opens its doors to anyone curious about the journey from cacao bean to the finished bar. Through engaging tours and tastings, visitors can explore the rich history of cacao, the ethical sourcing behind their ingredients, and the artistry involved in small-batch chocolate making.
Every product at Kaicao is crafted with intention: organic, sustainable, and deeply flavorful. Each piece invites you to slow down and really taste. During the tour and even if you're just visiting, you can see all the machinery, meet the makers, and, of course, sample the product! Chocolate is meant to be aromatic and complex, and here you can learn to appreciate the differences. Normal chocolate will never taste the same again!
Located in one of Madrid’s most vibrant and diverse neighborhoods, Kaicao embodies the spirit of conscious consumption and local craftsmanship. Its owners are always willing to meet new cacao addicts. It may not be the most traditionally madrileño experience, but let’s be honest, who can say no to good chocolate? And this one is absolutely worth it.
