This is where I celebrated my birthday in 2020; you know, a zillion years ago when actual birthdays could be celebrated indoors, and no masks were required. And what a treat it was!
It could be two spots in just one place because usually it’s food or cocktails, but at La Burlona you can do both, and that is why I love it so much. The food is amazing. Try the tortilla, it’s that yummy; they also have black rice, glazed ribs, tuna tartar, octopus, and other crab dishes. I would describe it as typically Spanish but with a sophisticated touch.
After dinner, or before, as I did with my friends on our last visit, go downstairs and try one of their cocktails. Is a totally different vibe but equally cool. They do not serve food at El Trilero (the name of the cocktail bar), but if there are tables available you can bring your cocktail upstairs. So maybe do it as we did: cocktails first, dinner after.
Let the staff make recommendations – they are some of the nicest I have encountered.
For birthdays or any other events, contact them directly and tell them how many people will attend, they can make it special for you. The restaurant does not have many tables, so you might want to make reservations in advance. They also started a delivery service quite recently, but you will be missing its cool ’70s vibe, which is a huge part of this charming restaurant.
