In Poncelet Bar you can find the biggest cheese selection in Madrid, more than 150 different kinds, all of them artisanal, from 11 countries made with goat-, sheep-, cow- and buffalo-milk. They keep it in a beautiful cheese cellar shaped in a diamond form that allows the customers to see all the varieties of cheese.
But they don’t only have cheese plates, but also fondues, raclettes and a wide variety of plates cooked with cheese, including desserts! The waiters are very nice and won’t hesitate to recommend the best plate according to your taste. Even if you are not a huge cheese fan (my condolences) they also have “anti-cheese” plates.
Besides all of that, the architectonic design of the restaurant is impressive, a very vanguardist design inspired on nature. And they even have a vertical garden!
If you prefer to carry your cheese home, they have a shop in calle Argensola, 27 called “Poncelet Punto Selecto” with more than 300 kinds of national and European cheese. Also, they organize events like cheese tours or classes (for more info about this check their website).
