Three friends decided, while playing pool, to make their dream come true: to create a place to share stories over the books they love while having awesome wine. Most brilliant idea ever, right?
“Tipos Infames”, which can be translated as infamous guys, is a bookstore that also offers wine tastings, workshops, coffee, book presentations and a is place for storytellers. Do not expect to find “bestsellers” here – on the contrary, this place is mostly intended for little known authors, books by small publishers and even the ones recommended by the owners. But I love it mostly for the wine; I mean, sharing experiences over your favorite drink while reading or commenting on your most recent finding.
Its location also adds to its charming allure. Malasaña is filled with alternative shops and restaurants, which I would say is the perfect setting for this independent bookstore. They even opened a second location, just across the street, which I have yet to visit. They did it to celebrate their 10-year anniversary and wanted a special place to offer poetry and children’s books. What a year, 2020, to celebrate anything you might think, but as a Spotter, I do applaud any cultural venue that keeps going despite all this hardship. Tipos Infames is all about with books and wine, it doesn’t get any better.
