Sometimes I have this urge to try new things, and modern Nordic cuisine has been the thing for a while now here in Scandinavia. What I have experienced is that at modern Nordic restaurants the waiters always talk about the origin of the dish and describe everything before you can eat it. I am tired of that. So I am going back to the basics. And Di Penco has been my favourite for MANY years. They don’t talk about the food, they just make excellent food!
It is situated on a small street behind the Opera and is hard to find on itself. There are not many seats and I don’t come here for the view. I come because they serve the best Italian meals I have had outside Italy. They have pasta every lunch, and a la carte at night time. I recommend that you try their antipasti and share it with someone — there is plenty. The bread and olive oil is delicious and I always have to stop myself from eating too much before the real meal is served. The pricing is very low and your kids are welcome. I love it! So go (but book a table if there are many of you).
