If you’re looking for a panoramic view, most Malmö residents would point you in the direction of Clarion Live hotel, but I recommend Kasai in the sky at the top of Story Hotel Studio for several reasons.
Firstly, Kasai in the sky has a spacious outdoor patio terrace which is open when weather permits – except between October until the first signs of Spring officially starting (usually this is marked by the first Swede who wears shorts in Malmö on the main walking street, regardless of the temperature outside.)
At Clarion, the windows don’t even open and it feels like a suffocating sauna inside, especially on a sunny day, no matter the time of year.
Also at Kasai in the sky, you don’t have to line up for the elevators and unlike Clarion, there aren’t pretentious bouncers checking that you’re up to style before entering the elevators.
The restaurant has an Asian fusion concept. It’s a little pricey but still very good – so unless you’re very hungry, I suggest splurging on a superb cocktail or 3, like their signature cocktail Alchemist, and then enjoy soaking up the afternoon sun or cosy evening sunset with a great panoramic view of Malmö either from the terrace when it’s open or through one of their large windows overlooking Malmö which line the edge of the interior.
