One of my first memories after moving to Sweden in 2000 was a visit to Stippes after enjoying a night on the town with friends in Malmö.
As anyone can agree, the tiredness and hunger hits quite quickly, no matter what bar you happen to be at, and Stippes is the go-to destination for many Malmö natives after their evenings out enjoying drinks.
I always get a bacon double-cheeseburger with no bread, along with a sauce called ‘hamburgerdressing’ – something that resembles thousand island salad dressing. Absolutely delicious, and massive hamburger patties.
Note, be prepared to wait a bit for your food if you roll in after 23:00 – this is especially the case if you find yourself at Stippes after this time on a Friday or Saturday which is on or soon after the 25th of any given month – that is payday in Sweden and everyone who is everyone is out having drinks and feeling like they are the ‘king of the bar’ – albeit for one evening – there’s even a famous song about it. Stippes has lots of different meals to choose from and burger sizes. Just be sure to maybe skip the last two drinks on your night out (see my pub crawl article for inspiration) so you can at least remember how much you enjoyed your burger.
