Do you miss the arts? Many do, but probably not as much as WE do – performers and creators of all kinds, and everyone in any way involved with creating cultural events – too many different work categories to name here. Much more than meets the eye goes into creating/producing musicals, concerts, ballets, arts exhibitions etc. During the pandemic, restrictions and temporary legislations early on made it almost impossible for us to perform our jobs in any way! We’ve spent a lifetime, invested our souls and money to master those jobs. The cultural sector is bleeding, but holding on, still fighting. The show must go on!
One fighter is artist and curator Jeanette Gostomski, the mind behind a series of arts installations currently on display in central Malmö – Urban Window Gallery is Jeanette’s second exhibition here, the first was an arts exhibition, to which various artists from across the cultural sector contributed with works intended for world premieres, tours, shows and exhibitions. UWG focuses on contemporary dance and the 4 installations provide a preview of the upcoming project “Contemporary Dance Gallery”. Addresses and creators of UWG are listed below:
Stora Nygatan 55 – Nidia Martinez Barbieri/Johan Nästesjö
Friisgatan 14 – Maria Maidu
Simrishamnsgatan/Falkenbergsgatan – Uli Ruchlinski/Dansstationen
Bokgatan 50 – Emma Ribbing/Silas Bieri
The venue-providers are “Bid Malmö Fastighetsägare” – a group of local property owners.
Do like me, take a walk, and experience some much-needed art, on display 24/7, (till February 26th) in the windows along the route of “Urban Window Gallery” – Together we’ll ensure that the show DOES go on!
