Alberts Schloss – Bohemian bier palace

Having lived and studied in Germany I’m a total Germanophile so it won’t come as any surprise that Alberts Schloss is one of my favourite places for Bavarian grub and lashings of beer and schnapps.

This Bohemian bier palace is set on the ground floor of the Albert Hall and inside mixes the traditional Alpine-style benches and huge copper tankards with a stylish decor, live shows, DJs and bands and a ‘Push for Prosecco’ button.

The Schloss is most famous for its huge selection of imported beers and Czech Urquell served from copper barrels. But even if Pilsner isn’t your thing, there’s also a great choice of wine, cocktails and authentic schnapps made on the premises. When I’ve had my fill of beer I like tro finish off with a sweet, Apfel Strudel cocktail. As you’d expect a lot of the dishes are very meat-heavy but there are some vegan options on the menu too and many of the vegetarian dishes can be veganised.

As the Germans say, Prost!
