The self-styled ‘creative coffee shop’ Boho Utopia combines wonderful food with a homely atmosphere. Located on Wilmslow Road in Withington, this vegan cafe is a not-so-hidden gem outside of the city centre.
My heart will always belong to Boho Utopia’s ‘Mac and Cheez’, which always fills me perfectly without emptying my wallet at the same time.
My favourite part of Boho Utopia is the venue itself; customers can choose to either sit downstairs in the more traditional cafe or upstairs, which is a perfect hippie-hideout, complete with rocking chairs, blankets, sofas and bean bags so you can cuddle up while you catch up with friends. Another great touch that will make you feel at home if the board games and lovely staff already haven’t is the choose-your-own-mug option when buying a hot drink (and the option, if you feel really cheeky, to buy said chosen mug, if staff haven’t grown too attached to it).
Growing up, my parents could very easily be described as hippies; my dad has been vegetarian seemingly since the dawn of time, I learned to play records before I even knew what a CD was and the walls of our house were adorned with rugs, wind chimes and dream-catchers. Boho Utopia feels like I’ve been transported back to my childhood.
I’m not a very comfortable person in places that aren’t my bedroom, but Boho Utopia simply feels like an extension of my own home, and for that, I thank it dearly.
