Central Library Manchester

Central Library – Insta-worthy bookworm heaven

Manchester is many things, but quiet definitely isn’t one of them. Whenever I’m looking for a little peace and quiet or an escape from the weekend crowds the Central Library is my go-to escape.

It’s the second largest public lending library in the UK after The Birmingham Library and you’ll enjoy it even if you aren’t a bookworm. The exterior is inspired by the Pantheon in Rome and one of my favourite things to do is sit nearby, admire the architecture and watch the world go by. The Corinthian columns are particularly Instagram-worthy.

You need to be a member to take books home with you but if your visit is a fleeting one you can still enjoy the library. In fact, one of my favourite ways to spend a Saturday is sitting in the café with a hot cup of coffee and a graphic novel, especially when the rain is lashing down outside.
