People say that veganism is the healthiest lifestyle choice, but I don’t always agree. Sometimes the only thing that will satisfy your food cravings is a mid-week takeaway. Tucked away on High Street, just off Manchester’s infamous Market Street, Little Aladdin is my go-to when I’m in need of something cheap, fast and comforting.
Little Aladdin serves up a plethora of curries, wraps, burgers and even homemade cakes, but the real reason most people go is for a Green Plate – the restaurant’s own take on the Mancunian rice ‘n’ three. That’s any three of the daily special curries served on a bed of rice for just £4.99. The Green Plate itself is plenty to get your teeth into, but I highly recommend ordering a side of aubergine fritters to accompany your curry. The specials change every day, but you’re always guaranteed something delicious whether it’s a dhal, sag aloo or kidney bean curry.
For me, the mark of a good restaurant is its versatility, and Little Aladdin is just that for me. Whether I’m popping in for a late Sunday lunch or grabbing a box of cheesy chips on the way home from Friday evening drinks, I know there’s something amazing waiting for me.
