There’s just something so Northern about a mug of hot soup and a butty on a cold day, and when it’s damp and drizzly outside there’s nothing quite like warming up at Soup Kitchen in the heart of Manchester’s Northern Quarter.
More than just a humble cafe, Soup Kitchen is a multi award winning canteen, bar and music venue hosting live music events, club nights, comedy events and art exhibitions. The menu changes with the seasons, but at the moment I am living for the French Onion & Guinness soup.
Vegan options are plentiful and it’s a lovely place to just relax and read a book while enjoying a hot drink and a cake, even if soup’s not your thing. By night the venue changes completely and is the perfect spot for a enjoying a few local beers and some of the best North West talent.
Of course though, the ideal time to visit is on a Sunday afternoon to sample one of Soup Kitchen’s famous roast dinners. Get there quick though, they sell out fast!
