Teacup Kitchen is a tearoom/cafe in the heart of the Northern Quarter. Owned by Manchester DJ Mr Scruff and his manager, who are both big on tea, Teacup serves one of the largest lists of loose leaf tea that I’ve seen on any menu.
I’m a big fan of the ‘Assam second flush’, but they also do a range of cleansing tonics and hangover cure teas that I’m sure go down well in the bar district. The loose leaf concoction comes in a teapot of its own with a timer so that you know exactly how long to leave it to brew before pouring into a second pot.
If you’re more of a coffee person, not to worry, as Teacup has a good selection of coffee options too. And most importantly, they do a great slice of home-made cake. One of my favourites is their ‘rainbow cake’ (pictured above) which is a colourful take on a traditional Battenberg.
They offer more substansial staples too if you’re looking for somewhere to grab some breakfast, lunch or an early dinner. Expect pies, sandwiches, soups and stews to fill up on.
