Cine Tonalá, located in the Roma Sur neighborhood, is heaven for non commercial cinema lovers. It’s a small cool place dedicated to promoting and showing all those movies that you just could not see at the huge movie theatre chains. You can check the movie showing times on their website.
Besides the cinema, Cine Tonalá also has a cool bar with cocktails named after classic Mexican movie characters/places, a cozy lounge -where I love hanging out with my friends while having a beer and listening to cool music- and a restaurant that serves stuff like stone oven pizzas, hamburgers, soups, salads and appetizers like potato croquettes, sweet potato fries or tuna and octopus tostadas.
Cine Tonalá is also a venue for music concerts, theatre plays, book presentations, lectures, workshops and stand-up comedy shows, so every day there’s something fun to do there.
You can get there by Metro (subway), it’s located a few blocks from Centro Médico station, walking or biking -there is a bike parking right outside- if you’re staying in the neighbourhood, or Uber your way there.
