El Pescadito arrived in Mexico City in 2012. By then it already was a renowned chain of taquerías in Hermosillo (capital of the northwestern state of Sonora), but pretty unknown down here. They opened their first local branch at the hip Condesa neighbourhood and it was a huge success right from the start.
Every day you see people waiting in line to stuff their faces with these huge fish tacos. Their main ingredients are smoked marlin, battered fish, battered shrimp, so you’ve got those options and all their combinations. A shrimp and fish taco is called “campechano”, a marlin and shrimp taco is called “tacochango”, while my favourite is called “tacotote” with a green pepper stuffed with marlin and battered shrimp on top.
Once you get your tacos you need to stop by this bar with hot chili sauces, coleslaw, lemons, mayonnaise and chipotle and cucumber dressings to add more flavours to the mix. Oh, man… my mouth is watering already. Do whatever you need to do, but stop by El Pescadito.
