Toka La Escalada, “Touch the Climb” with a little bit of slang, opened its doors in 2013 with the objective to promote climbing culture in Mexico and reaching out to anyone who is willing to try climbing at least once.
Toka is founded by Quetzali Galindo and Javier Serratos, partners in climb and in life and living legends of Mexican climbing.
Quetzali or “La Miss” as everyone calls her, is a former professional ballet dancer and one of Mexico’s strongest female climbers. She is someone I personally look up too.
Javier has always been a climber, very methodical in his training and focused in his climbing. I had the opportunity to train with him a few times and loved his calm approach.
New to their team is Antonio Pérez, my own personal trainer and really close friend. His trademark is high heel movements so be prepared.
At Toka you will find a great training area, fun boulders, a climbing and camping gear shop and someone that will definitely help you choose what you need. Take a look at Mexican gear.
If you love to be outside and are willing to try some of Mexico’s beautiful climbing areas, ask Antonio, Javier or Quetzali for a day trip to their favorite spots.
Remember: the most important part of climbing is having fun.
