Before trying Little Lamb I had heard a lot about Mongolian hot pot as Milan’s latest trend and I have to say it makes for a good excuse to spend time in good company.
Mongolian hot pot is a unique way to enjoy Chinese food – a totally customized Chinese dinner experience. What you do is choose your favorite flavored broth and then pick your raw ingredients between a wide variety of meat and fish options, as well as the tastiest types of tofu and the freshest mushrooms or, again, exotic vegetables and traditional noodles (rice, potato, soy, fern…). That’s when the fun starts: a little bit of DIY, dip in soy sauce or sesame and enjoy your food “fondue style”! In case you didn’t feel adventurous you could opt for the bbq specialties, but beware of what’s marked as spicy, as it can be a bit too much if you’re not into it.
Little Lamb Bernina is a quiet restaurant, a bit different from the other branch in Chinatown and more intimate. I love it here because the quality of the ingredients is great and the staff is friendly and hospitable; what I liked best about Little Lamb was how easy and fun cooking your own food could be. Another big plus, even if we ended up ordering way too much food, our bill was not excessive.
The bottom line is, if you’re looking for a different kind of Chinese food experience with friends Little Lamb is definitely worth trying.
