Fun fact: One of my best friends is Colombian, but I had never tried Colombian food until very recently. One evening, I was searching for a new restaurant to try in Milan. I didn’t have a specific cuisine in mind, but I was eager to experience something “different” (whatever that even means). While Milan is renowned for its plethora of pizzerias, incredible sushi spots, and Chinese restaurants, I had never stumbled upon a Colombian restaurant until I found Mitú.

When you enter Mitú, you are instantly captivated by its typical Colombian decor that was meticulously crafted by a Colombian architect with a keen eye for detail. The ambiance is warm, casual yet distinctive, exuding an air of authenticity. The menu is curated by one of Colombia’s most esteemed chefs, Alvaro Clavijo, and is inspired by Colombian cuisine.

Disclaimer, if you are native Colombian, please note that the menu is tailored to suit European, predominantly Italian, palates. Each dish is a delightful fusion of flavors with a variety of ingredients that I had never seen or tasted previously. I loved the Chata alla cartagena dish and the local Colombian cheese entrada. Mitú is the type of establishment I would enthusiastically recommend to a friend seeking a charming atmosphere, great cuisine and attentive and knowledgeable staff. It was a great experience, and I will certainly come back!
