This is a really posh patisserie, with its winding chandeliers and shining glass showcases, but it is located in an extremely working class area. The result is a funny mixture: the warm, welcoming, noisy atmosphere of the local people (old ladies, families with children, young couples …) and the modern, refined style of the furniture.
Once you get in, you will be impressed by the variety of the mignon cakes: panna cotta, tiramisù, yogurt mousse, orange cream, fruit, chocolate… They are all haute cuisine style: small cubes or semi-spheres, a perfect match of colors, smooth texture and a melting taste you won’t forget. Have a look at the website and your mouth will start watering.
Last but not least: sit outside and get to know your “neighbors”. It won’t be difficult, after two minutes an old lady will casually start talking with you and will introduce you to all her friends. Ask her how to reach the “Villaggio giornalisti”, a residential area walking distance from there (amazing how the atmosphere changes) and ask for the mushroom houses (case a fungo): seeing them is quite an experience.
Pasticceria Martesana now has a twin shop in Paolo Sarpi 62, within walking distance from Moscova metro station.
