The first time I wanted to come to Byblos, a lovely cafe restaurant on Laurier East, it was closed. Many years passed before an actual visit, but I do not regret the wait once I had the pleasure of sitting in this cozy place. On warmer days the side windows all open up to the street, a private indoor terrasse filling with the sun and breeze.
Regardless of the weather, the interior is perfect for spending many hours, lazing over brunch and drinking countless pots of mint tea. My favorite dishes are the scrambled eggs, one is prepared with dates and the other with Persian spices and rose petals. So far I have only been for brunch because the unique menu items definitely set it apart from the classics.
The best time to come to Byblos would be a day when you have plenty of time, can sit either in the window or at a table in a corner, and flip through the books scattered all over while you sip on some fresh tea.
