I’m a big lover of Middle Eastern food and Damas is hands down the best in the city. It’s not easy to get a reservation so best to plan ahead.
The restaurant, situated in the lovely Outremont neighborhood, buzzes with chatter on most nights. The luscious décor of lanterns, beautiful tiled floor, glassed-in wine cellar and a red ceiling adds an authentic Syrian feel to the place.
The menu consists of hot and cold mezzes, Syrian charcoal grilled dishes and specialties. I have tasted four cold mezzes (hummus, beet muttabal, eggplant muttabal and mouhammara) served with their fresh-out-of-the-oven pita bread. All was absolutely delish along with my favorite Fattouch salad. I’v had the mixed grilled meat platter which consists of lamb, beef and chicken, a great choice when dining with a group of four or more. My favorite main dish to date has been the Fattet Makdou, eggplant stuffed with lamb layered with tomato sauce, nuts, pita, yogurt sauce, ghee and coriander. They offer so many wonderful main dishes, the hard part is to choose just one!
Great atmosphere, good service and amazing food… it’s a stimulating experience for your taste buds!
