You had me at Aloha. Everything about this place is fun! The décor is like none other with its table shaped like a surf board, white and turquoise walls and green plants everywhere. It has a nice Hawaiian feel so much so that when I’m there, I wish I was on having my lunch on an tropical island.
Their specialty is poke Hawaiian style. I have been here many times for a quick lunch during the week as it’s located directly in Montreal’s downtown core, just a few minutes from my work. My favorites are the Mama California poke (salmon, fuego mayo, crab, green papaya, tempura, tobiko), the Papa California poke (tuna, volcano sauce, green papaya, pickled cucumber, crunch mix, tobiko, jalapeño, cilantro) and the new Tonga Tonga (salmon, tuna, pickled cucumber, edamame, jalapeno, crunch mix, ponzu alabama sauce). They are bowls of goodness! The staff is great and they can adjust the spiciness to your liking.
Also try some of their “sides” such as the Alohavocado (avocado, sour cream, masago, cilantro) and the Hua salad (pineapple, feta, macadamia nuts, cucumber, jalapeno, cilantro, mint). They also offer gluten-free and vegan poke bowls. Something for everyone!
Note that there is a second location at 1212 Ave. Union.
